Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center 8th Floor Unit

Adventist HealthCare White Oak Medical Center in Silver Spring, Maryland, has expanded its capacity by opening a new 20,620-square-foot unit on the hospital’s eighth floor. This addition includes 30 beds to accommodate patients from the emergency department and those undergoing medical or surgical procedures. This unit is designed to provide specialized care for patients requiring higher levels of medical monitoring and treatment. These enhancements are part of White Oak Medical Center’s long-term strategy to accommodate the growing healthcare needs of the surrounding communities. This expansion not only increases the hospital’s capacity but also contributes to the local economy by adding full- and part-time positions in nursing, clinical roles, and support services.

Each patient room features a vibrant, color-accented footwall that integrates digital displays for patient information and real-time nursing technology—supporting clear communication and personalized care. A light-filled public corridor connects the unit with views to the outdoors, highlighted by curated artwork and a comfortable waiting area that creates a welcoming atmosphere for families and visitors. Staff workflow is also prioritized with interconnected team stations designed to promote collaboration. Windows between the decentralized nurse stations and the centrally located medicine supply room foster visual connection and efficiency, helping the care team function as a cohesive unit while maintaining proximity to patients.
