A comprehensive modernization
and expansion of a community hospital
Wilmot Sanz developed a 10 year Master Facility Plan for the Howard
County General Hospital in 1996. The Master Facility Plan recommended
the immediate implementation of the First Phase to add a new Emergency
Department, new Labor/Delivery Department, a new NICU and Critical
Care Patient Unit. This project was completed in the spring of 2003.
The planning has been started for the next phase of the Master
Facility Plan which will include the first of 2 Inpatient Care Towers.
The new tower will house 120 new Patient Care beds with outpatient
care departments on the first level. The site is also master planned
for the development of 3 Medical Office Structures to complement
the existing Ambulatory Care Facilities on campus. Parking structures
are planned at the south zone of the site to replace existing on-grade
parking as the need arises.
