A three-story hospital addition and major renovation

The expansion and renovation of Inova Alexandria Hospital includes a relocated and expanded emergency department, a new 35-bed telemetry unit, a relocated lab, and a shelled basement level. The first phase of the project will be the construction of a new 697-space parking structure that will consolidate staff parking and thereby provide additional visitor parking on-site.

Treatment positions in the new emergency department will be increased from 25 to 38. The relocation of the emergency department and the lab will allow for the renovation, consolidation and expansion of the Stage II Recovery Center, a 21 position PACU, a new 11-bay CVIR processing facility, 2 procedure rooms, ultrasound, a new surgery entry and discharge area, a new cath lab, and the addition of two new operating rooms. A heliport will be provided on the roof of the new addition.
